Original Dan Flavin Exhibition Poster – A Retrospective | Minimalist Light Art P

Artist: Dan Flavin Exhibition: Dan Flavin – A Retrospective Organized by: Dia Art Foundation Associated with: National Gallery of Art Description Original exhibition poster promoting “Dan Flavin: A Retrospective.” Dan Flavin was one of the leading figures of the Minimalist movement and is best known for his groundbreaking installations using commercially available fluorescent light tubes. Beginning in the 1960s, Flavin transformed ordinary industrial lighting into immersive artworks that explore color, space, and perception. His works often consist of simple arrangements of fluorescent tubes mounted directly on walls, creating glowing environments that alter the viewer’s sense of architecture and atmosphere. The artwork featured on this poster shows one of Flavin’s signature installations: horizontal fluorescent light tubes arranged in a geometric grid, radiating vibrant color across the surrounding walls. Retrospectives dedicated to Flavin have been important moments in the recognition of Minimalism as one of the defining artistic movements of the late 20th century. With its bold color gradients and geometric composition, this poster works beautifully as modern interior decor, especially in contemporary spaces, studios, and minimalist homes.
