Original Jasper Johns Exhibition Poster 1980 – Moderna Museet Stockholm Vintage

Artist: Jasper Johns Exhibition: Arbetsprocesser – Grafik 1960–1976 (Working Processes – Prints 1960–1976) Museum: Moderna Museet Exhibition dates: 29 March – 11 May 1980 City: Stockholm, Sweden Description Original exhibition poster featuring the work of influential American artist Jasper Johns. This poster was produced for the exhibition “Arbetsprocesser – Grafik 1960–1976” held at Moderna Museet in Stockholm in 1980. The exhibition focused on Johns’ printmaking and working processes during a pivotal period in his career. Jasper Johns is widely regarded as one of the most important artists of the postwar era. His work challenged the dominance of Abstract Expressionism by introducing recognizable imagery—such as flags, numbers, maps, and everyday objects—into contemporary art. By combining painting, collage, drawing, and printmaking, Johns blurred the line between representation and abstraction and helped pave the way for movements such as Pop Art and Conceptual Art. The artwork featured on this poster reflects Johns’ interest in layered surfaces, studio tools, and the creative process itself, offering a glimpse into how his works were constructed. Today, original museum posters from exhibitions like this are valued as historical artifacts of important moments in modern art history and make compelling decorative pieces for collectors and contemporary interiors.
